Len Morris
I have been a photographer for many
years since about the 1970s but when I came north to Yorkshire from
Cambridgeshire I was firstly involved with a Bradford company at board level
and went on to set up my own consultancy business so in the ten years or so up
to my retirement photography got squeezed out and the quality suffered
badly! On retirement I took a look
around for a good camera club and realized that Ilkley Camera Club was the best
in the area so joined that. Being a
member of a club, especially a good one drags your photography expertise
up. It is quite salutary to enter a club
competition, to get soundly beaten and see from the winning prints and judges
remarks exactly why! Must
do better next time. Well since
then I have managed to get some improvement and give my colleagues at Ilkley a
good run for their money but the competition is still stiff and standard high
which is excellent! I have just achieved
my CPAGB this year so there is a fair way to go in improvement as yet! I have yet to get a print accepted for the
YPU exhibition despite what appears to be some near misses. That is one of my next hurdles!.
