Although I have taken photographs for most of my life, it is only in the digital era and in retirement that I have pursued photography as a serious hobby.  I was persuaded to join Leeds Photographic Society several years ago although I was initially hesitant as I only had a compact camera. I quickly found  that this was no barrier and have learnt a huge amount through lectures, tutorials, entering competitions and, not least, advice from other members. All this has improved my photography (though others may disagree!) and even though I've moved on to a DSLR, I do still have a compact camera for those occasions when I don't want all that bulk to carry around.
