Andrea Hargreaves

F4 photographic Group

Reluctantly I bought a Sony A200 DSLR in 2008 instead of a new compact - thinking it would be a waste of money.  I`m now on my 3rd DSLR a Canon EOS 60D and it is never out of my hand!

After a year in Auto mode, I joined a camera club in 2009 hoping to learn more and found invaluable help and encouragement from a few amazing photographers. I read manuals, listened to everyone, practiced continually, went on workshops and entered competitions to try improve.

Together with my hubby Phil, we are members of the Boho Club, a creative group of like minded photographers, and are current members of F4 Photographic Group at Hull, a small,  but perfectly formed gang who are more than happy to share their wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm for this brilliant craft.

I love photographing animals and birds, air displays, boats, people… anything and everything, unusual and interesting but it was discovering Photoshop that opened up a whole new world to satisfy my creative side.

I have recently had an image on the cover of Ameteur Photographer Magazine after a landscape workshop but my most thrilling achievement (until now!) was to have some images accepted in the YPU comp in 2011 and be awarded the Jim Barker Trophy for Best colour portrait print "Ellie".

My next terrifying milestone is the CPAGB accreditations next year…. Wish me luck!
